Weekly Update...

Central Howell Families-
Thank you to our families for another strong week at CH! I can't believe we have almost completed a full month of school....

This week, we completed more "firsts" for the year: Our first Parent Club meeting had many updates and exciting events on the horizon. We also had our first "HOLD" drill of the year. This is the lowest-level safety protocol we practice. We use the "HOLD" to manage student movement in a situation where we may have a medical concern in a general area, a spill or another facility concern, or to allow building supervision an opportunity to confirm the safety of our campus. Classrooms continue "business as usual", while keeping all students in their classroom area until further notice. A HOLD can also transition into a "SECURE" and/or "LOCKDOWN". We will be planning these drills in the coming weeks with District support. We will communicate to families in advance as to when these drills will take place.
Below are additional updates of things on the horizon:

-FFA Event at SHS: Our 3/4 and 4/5 classes will be attending the FFA Agriculture-based field day hosted by the High School FFA students. This event will be all day Friday Oct 3, with our two classes attending 12:30-2:30.
-Character Trait Assembly: Wednesday Oct 8, is our first Character Trait Assembly of the year. We will celebrate SAFETY and introduce our next trait for the month of October.
-Christmas Tree Run: Our grades 4-8 will be participating in the Christmas Tree run at Silver Crest on Oct. 9. Next week, we will share the schedule and more information.
-No School: Oct 10 (Friday) and Oct 13 (Monday) are both no school days.
-Spirit Week: Oct 14-17 will be our Spirit Week, in coordination with Homecoming Week. Our MS Leadership Students will be choosing the dress-up days and will be shared in the coming weeks.
-Homecoming Parade: Friday Oct 17, is the Homecoming Parade. The overall theme for this year is Disney, and the Central Howell float theme is Finding Nemo.

I want to give a shoutout to our MS leadership students, along with Mrs. Marshall, for their efforts in helping run concessions for home volleyball matches, support in the classrooms, and in the office. These students are helping contribute to our positive culture around campus!!!

Have a great weekend, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
Mr. Rise
